Your advice has been very helpful so far, so now another question: neither the computer nor the transfer cable has arrived yet, but I am thinking ahead.

The sticky part for me is that both computers must be functional, with an attached display.  Oh-oh.  I'm not getting a new monitor.

What to do? Suggestions, please.

you can have the monitor on OLD computer, then put it on NEW computer.  set it up while going back and forth.

much easier if you borrow a monitor for the transfer.

I hope you will be able to get a better/easier answer from someone.  Google the Tornado device for further information.  I don't really remember since my transfer was a while back.

good luck!

What a Great Day!
