Hi All!

Just thought I would introduce myself, I'm new to sweeping and just found this site and it so helpful! I'm not looking to win anything big cuz I can't afford the taxes (disabled, fixed income) just enough for the little things, gift cards to buy necessities and gifts.

I had to figure out a way to make my income stretch so I found couponing, which led to freebie sites, which led to sweeping. With all these things, I'm able to breathe a bit! It's  Godsend, really.

Just this week I won movie tkts, coupons, beauty prizes and just now a $25 gift card to Sephora. It's really going to make this XMAS better than last year (could only buy one gift). I'm hoping to be able to socre some nice gifts for people.

Anyways, I'll be posting my wins cuz I find it helpful when others do.

The Luck list is the coolest thing ever!

Thanks, Mr. Sweepy!

Most firms won't send you a 1099 for taxes if the win is for $600 or less as the IRS doesn't reqire it.  You're supposed to declare the income and pay taxes, but the reality is that nobody does.

Don't gve up on the larger items that are relatively easy to sell.  A popular car, for example is easy to sell - even back to the dealer who supplies the car.  The sale proceeds can pay the taxes and leave you wiih a lot of cash.

Finally, if you win, you can always refuse the prize, in which case no taxes are due.

"Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go."

Well thank you all for the warm welcome!

Yes, I will have to stick with the small prizes for now unfortunately, it's not so much the taxes as is my health insurance being so income specific, any extra income would cause my premium to rise and cut coverage, ugh!

Whatever taxes didn't take, medical bills would.

Now a million bucks on the other hand, that's something I could work with, lol!

Greet to be here, Good luck everyone!
