What are the tax laws in the U.S. for winning a contest in Canada ? I mean, do I pay Canadian taxes or U. S taxes.

I believe you pay taxes in the country you live in. I've never won anything from a sweepstakes that's out of the U.S. though, since the majority of the sweepstakes listed here are all based in the U.S. You won't find many from Canadian companies, but you will find a lot of sweeps that you can enter if you live in Canada. I'm not sure how Canada's tax laws work, though. Maybe some Canadians here can shed some light on how they pay taxes on their wins.
