Ok, so years and years ago I entered the PCH sweepstakes only to get bombarded by mail.  I never wanted that again but the new win $5000 a week for life forever has caught my attention.  What if I won and could pass that along to my family after I die?  So great right?

I am now an avid sweeper and wanted to know your thoughts on PCH.  Is it legit?  Do you have to order?  If you do not place an order, even though it says no purchase required, do they toss it?  Are there so many people entering their sweeps still that the chances are like the Powerball? Is is worth my time?

Thanks so much!

MY TAKE IT STINKS,SMALL PRIZES MAY BE WON, JUST TO SHOW PEOPLE DO WIN,BUT I THINKS IT'S LIKE THE ENEGIZER BUNNY IT JUST KEEPS GOING AND GOING,HOW MANY PEOPLE KNOW SOME ONE WHO ACTUALLY WON? AFTER ALL THE YEARS THEY HAVE BEEN GIVING AWAY THESE BIG PRIZES YOU WOULD THINK SOME ONE WOULD KNOW SOMEONE THAT WON.

My mom gave it a try and it seemed to go in circles...  Letter after letter saying that she was "in the final round" or "a finanist".  Time after time, it just seemed to be a lot of false hope.

My take

1. Since 1990 there has been at least 1 winner of $1,000,000 or more each year except for 2006.

http://www.pch.com/winnerscircle

2. There have been many winners of smaller prizes up to $100,000.

http://www.pch.com/assets/WINNER_LIST.pdf

3. The odds of winning big are astronomical, worse than Powerball. Currently 1 in 1,215,500,000. Yes, over a BILLION to 1.

http://rules.pch.com/vie...ailid=2013JanTVPC1CTLREG

4. Some of the entry portals can be very tedious to skip all the merchandise offers.

5. The good part is that it only costs time to enter. I enter almost every day because it fuels my dreams.

PS one of our members has met a PCH Million dollar winner

it is a hugh waste of time.  lots of hoops to jump through.  they are terrible with honoring requests to "opt out".  once you are on their email and snail mail lists, it takes YEARS to get them to stop sending you junk.  i would never give them my information again.  took over two years to stop their crap the last time i entered!

What a Great Day!

The odds are a longshot, but you'll never win if you don't enter. I don't do the usual page after page entry, but use the email entry to earn a sweep entry. It's rather easy, just click the link and they'll confirm your entry and you'll be redirected to the ad site mentioned in the email.

Another way to earn entries without going thru pages of ads and offers, is to do their Search and Win daily. Today's email got you 5 entries into the Feb 28th  draw $5000 for Life Forever. Just click on the link in the email and the Search and Win page comes up, do a search and you'll get you entries. And, you can also win something doing the search and win at PCH. Prizes varies from hour to hour, day to day.....

If I had to do the troublesome way of wading thru all those pages of offers, I would probably not even bother to enter, but, given the above mentioned options, I do enter.

Also, in the rules, they state, if no one has the matching numbers drawn for the $5000 for Life Forever, they will give away a prize(see rules for prize) in a random draw from all entries received. The prize is usually One Million Dollars, but not always. Read the rules.

Good luck if you all decide to give it a shot!

Somebody won the Forever prize earlier this year and the video was posted on several news sites. I suppose it could have been staged, but I do not think it was.

Also, if you look at the rules in the various mailings you receive you will notice that the drawing is not until some time in 2015. There may be different drawings between now and then, but the last two i received were both for 2015.

As everyone else has said, the odds are long. But if you have the time, what harm does it do.

As far as being a waste of time...my membership here has been a waste of time for the last year or more. But as the song goes "time ain't money when all you got is time".

Currently unemployed AGAIN, so I got plenty of time....AGAIN.

At least I am not wasting money along with time by buying lottery tickets!

This is the one that I've been entering....I guess there are different promotions/events going on at the same time, so it's best to read the rules so you know which one you're entering!

Isn't it true that if you don't place an order they throw your entry away and you're not even entered? If that's true then we're wasting our time entering. Would love to ask previous winners if they bought anything from PCH.

The winner lived in a town next to mine.  It was not staged.  The public was invited to attend.

It is possible to win, but highly unlikely, unless you expect to be hit by an asteroid anytime soon

I think it is a legitimate sweepstake, but I hear you are overwhelmed with emails citing you are a potential winner.
