How can a subscription not be eligible for cancellation?  Make any sense to anyone?  I understand a cancelation not being elibilbe for a refund as I didn't pay anything.  Last week I must have neglected to click on the right spot and found myself subscribed to 3 of their magazines. (It is possible, but I am not accusing them, that I was set up!) I thought it would be simple to cancel, but not so far.  This happened to me a few years ago, too, but I thought they had learned from their mistake.  Probably a new hire.  The boss says we gotta increase subscriptions anyway we can.  Yes, boss, on it boss.

My dear friend, you are not alone. I did the same thing with Womans Day -- last week and have tried unsuccessfully to cancel a subscription that as of yet doesn't exist. I got an e-mail confirmation that it was started with a nice thank you - but nothing on billing yet to cancel. I don't have a solution, except to keep trying - and if you get a magazine in the mail you'll have a good account number that will make cancelling it easier.

So thankful I'm not alone...

Happened to me to; when I tried to cancel it didn't exist. You have to wait until it shows up in their system. For me it took a week of following the link in the email before it came up as an active subscription. I then went to the account management from there and canceled. I then sent an email as well to let them know it was canceled online and to please send confirmation; the next day they confirmed by email. I still ended up getting the first issue cuz it was already sent, but never got a bill or another issue.

It usually takes 24 hours to show up.  I just save the email, click on the customer service link at the bottom and follow the steps to cancel subscription on the webpage.

This has happened to me twice in the last five weeks with Oprah sweepstakes (Hearst).  I am absolutely certain that I didn't subscribe either time.


Cancelling is deliberately a hassle, I believe!  Must be a tricky way of getting more subscribers - sign them up even without their consent. 


For shame, Hearst Magazines!

I find Hearst very easy to deal with. Conde Nast is a HORROR!

I tried all the hearst sweeps daily for two months. Extremely time consuming, as their pages take so long to load and the only thing I won was a headache from the mags in the mail. I accidentally ordered two but per their web page, it says free trial magazine and if you don't like it simply mark the bill with cancel and send it back.  Hasn't worked so far and I emailed them as well. These sweeps are not for me.  I entered daily to win ponytail holders in April, they were giving away 100 I believe. I didn't win and if I can't even win a ponytail holder, then I'm not entering those again. :)  I gave it my best for two months straight but I am so glad to have that daily hour and half back to do other things!

Same thing happened to me last week, I hit the refresh button and instead of getting the 'no subscription wanted' page, I must have gotten the order entry page so I got Elle magazine as well.  Will have to cancel, what a hassle, wouldn't you think they would require a double confirm when you order?
